Spectroscopy of odd-mass cobalt isotopes toward the N=40 subshell closure and shell-model description of spherical and deformed states

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb, 238U(70Zn, X)61Co/62Co/63Co/64Co/65Co/66Co/67Co/62Fe/64Ni/66Ni, E=460 MeV; measured mass spectrum of cobalt isotopes, Eγ, Iγ, γγ-, (particle)γ-coin, γ(θ). 61,62,63,64,65,66,67Co, 62Fe, 64,66Ni; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, isomeric states, deformation, configurations. Comparison with large-scale shell-model calculations in the fpgd model space. Shell evolution below 68Ni and island of inversion around N=40. Systematics of first 9/2- and 11/2- states in 55,57,59,61,63,65,67Co and first 2+ states in N=28-40 Ni isotopes. Discussed particle-phonon weak coupling.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 61,63,65,67Co; calculated levels, J, π using large-scale shell model with LNPS interaction, and weak coupling model.

Lifetime measurements in neutron-rich 63, 65Co isotopes using the AGATA demonstrator

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 238U(64Ni, X)63Co/65Co, E=460 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, level half-lives by RDDS method using PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and AGATA array at LNL tandem-ALPI accelerator complex. 63,65Co; deduced levels, B(E2), configuration. Systematics of B(E2) values for 11/2- to 7/2- transitions in 63,65,67Co, and first 2+ to g.s. transitions in 64,66Fe, 64,66,68Ni. Calculated neutron occupation numbers for g9/2 and d5/2 orbitals for lowest 11/2- states in Co isotopes and first 2+ states in Ni and Fe isotopes. Shell-model calculations.
