Role of the νg9/2 orbital in the development of collectivity in the A≈60 region: The case of 61Co

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 26Mg(48Ca, 4np2α)61Co, E=275, 290, 320 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γ(θ), centroid-shift Doppler-attenuation using FMA analyzer and GAMMASPHERE array at ATLAS-ANL facility. 61Co; deduced levels, J, π, multipolarity, bands, magnetic rotational dipole (shears) band, transition quadrupole moment and deformation parameter from DSA data, Nilsson configurations. Comparison with shell-model calculations using GXPF1A effective interaction in a modest-size pf space, and with structures of N=34 isotones 60Fe and 62Ni.
