"Southwestern" boundary of the N=40 island of inversion: First study of low-lying bound excited states in 59V and 61V

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H(62V, np), (61V, 2np), (61V, p), E=250 MeV/nucleon; measured fragments Bρ-ΔE-TOF, Eγ, Iγ, γ∓coin, (fragment)γ-coin, nγ-coin, pγ-coin; deduced σ, γ-ray production σ; calculated exclusive σ for 61V levels excitation. 59,61V; deduced levels J, π; calculated levels, J, π, spectroscopic factors. Shell-model calculations using the Lenzi-Nowacki-Poves-Sieja (LNPS) interaction. Due to role of hexadecapole deformation no unambiguous conclusion was made to understand if 61V belongs to the island of inversion. MINOS active target filled with liquid hydrogen surrounded by DALI2+ array (226 NaI(Tl) scintillators), coupled to NEBULA and NeuLAND neutron TOF neutron detectors and SAMURAI magnetic spectrometer. Beams produced from 9Be(70Zn, X), E=345 MeV/nucleon reaction followed by separation of fragments BigRIPS separator at RIBF.
