Spectroscopy of 50Sc and ab initio calculations of B(M3) strengths

RADIOACTIVITY 50Ca(β-)[from Ta(p, X), E=500 MeV at TRIUMF-ISAC facility]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γγ(θ), level half-lives by γγ(t) using GRIFFIN array of clover HPGe detectors, LaBr3(Ce) scintillators for fast timing, and plastic scintillator array SCEPTAR for β particles. 50Sc; deduced levels, J, π, γ-ray branching ratios, B(M3), B(M1), B(E2), mixing ratio, single-particle-orbital occupation numbers. Comparison with theoretical transition strengths from standard operators and from wave functions produced with the KB3G-pf shell interaction and the valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group (VS-IMSRG). Comparison of experimental and theoretical B(M3) for transitions in 24Na, 24Al, 34,38Cl, 38K and 50Sc, the theoretical values from ab initio calculations using the VS-IMSRG approach with consistently derived effective Hamiltonians and effective M3 operator.
