Superdeformation in asymmetric N > Z nucleus ⁴⁰Ar

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ²⁶Mg(¹⁸O, 2n2p), E=69 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, (particle)γ-coin using Gemini-II and Si-Ball detector arrays. ⁴⁰Ar; deduced levels, J, π, deformation, related features and lifetimes using DSA; calculated configuration using HFB method. Comparison with ³⁶Ar and ⁴⁰Ca systematics.
