Precision half-life measurement of ²⁹P

RADIOACTIVITY ²⁹P(β⁺)[from ²H(²⁸Si, X), E=9 MeV, followed by separation of ²⁹P using the TwinSol facility at the FN tandem accelerator of the University of Notre Dame, and implantation of ²⁹P beam in the NSL β-decay counting station]; measured β spectra, precise half-life of the decay of ²⁹P; deduced ft value for the β transition to the ground state of ²⁹Si, Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element V_ud, Fermi to Gamow-Teller mixing ratio; evaluated half-life using present and previous experimental values. Discussed in detail corrections and uncertainties. Comparison with previous half-life measurements.
