Destruction of the cosmic γ-ray emitter 26Al in massive stars: Study of the key 26Al(n, α) reaction
NUCLEAR REACTIONS 26Al(n, α), E=4-160 keV; measured E(n), I(n), Eα, Iα using single-sided silicon strip detectors (SSD) at the time-of-flight facilities n_TOF at CERN and GELINA at EC-JRC, Geel; deduced laboratory neutron-resonance energies, resonance strengths, and α-branching ratios, stellar reactivities for T=0.007 GK to 1.0 GK. Relevance to critical influence on the abundance of the cosmic γ-ray emitter 26Al produced in massive and AGB stars. Comparison with earlier experimental results, and with theoretical NON-SMOKER calculations and evaluated data.
