Accurate measurement of the first excited nuclear state in ²³⁵U

RADIOACTIVITY ^235mU(IT)[from ²³⁹Pu(α)]; measured Eγ, Iγ, and precise energy of the first excited state at 76 eV in ²³⁵U using superconducting tunnel junction detector with pulsed UV laser calibration. Comparison with previous experimental values. ^229mTh(IT); discussed adaptation of experimental approach towards measurement of first excited state at 7.8 eV in ²²⁹Th.
