Two-step γ cascades following thermal neutron capture in ^{155, 157}Gd

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ^155,157Gd(n, γ), E=thermal; measured γγ-coin using a pair of HPGe detectors at LVR-15, Rez research reactor; deduced two-step cascades (TSCs). ^156,158Gd; deduced levels, J, π, photon strength functions as function of Eγ, comparison between experimental and simulated TSC spectra using DICEBOX analysis. Evidence for the scissors-mode (SM) enhancement of M1 transitions.
