Quadrupole and octupole collectivity in 143Ba

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(143Ba, 143Ba'), E=627.8 MeV, [143Ba beam from 252Cf SF at the CARIBU facility at ATLAS-ANL]; measured reaction products, Eγ, Iγ, scattered particles, (particle)γ-coin, and half-life of the first 9/2- level from (particle)γ-coin using GRETINA array of 11 Quad detector modules, each with four 36-fold segmented HPGe crystals for γ detection and CHICO2 array of 20 Parallel Plate Avalanche Counters (PPACs). 143Ba; deduced levels, J, π, Coulomb excitation γ-ray yields, E2 matrix elements using GOSIA least-squares analysis, B(E2), upper limit for E3 matrix element and B(E3), alignment plots, doubly decoupled structure. Comparison with Reflection-Asymmetric Triaxial Particle Rotor Model (RAT-PRM) calculations.
