High-spin spectroscopy of 140Nd

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 96Zr(48Ca, 4n), E=180, 195 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γγ(θ) using the JUROGAM II+RITU+GREAT setup at Jyvaskyla and the EUROBALL array at the IRS in Strasbourg. Recoil-decay tagging technique. 140Nd; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, multipolarity, bands, alignments, configurations, B(M1)/B(E2), stable triaxial shape at high spin; calculated potential energy surface contours in (β2, γ) plane, single-particle Routhians using cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky and tilted axis cranking models.

Search for the terminating 27- state in 140Nd

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 96Zr(48Ca, 4n), E=180 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, γ(θ) using JUROGAM array and GREAT spectrometer at K-130 cyclotron facility of University of Jyvaskyla. 140Nd; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, multipolarity, configurations, fully aligned terminating state, shape coexistence. Comparison with cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky (CNS) calculations, and shell-model calculations for close-to-spherical and the triaxial states.
