Relative population of states in 21Mg from few-nucleon removal reactions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be(24Mg, X)21Mg, E=95 MeV/nucleon; 9Be(25Al, )21Mg, E=102 MeV/nucleon; 9Be(26Si, X)21Mg, E=95 MeV/nucleon; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin; deduced parallel momentum distribution of the 21Mg reaction product, correlation between the ratio of the population of levels in 21Mg produced from 26Si to the population of levels in 21Mg produced from 25Al. 9Be(24Mg, X)21Mg, E=95 MeV/nucleon; deduced σ for three-neutron removal. 21Mg; deduced levels, J, π, γ-ray transition relative intensities. 9Be(25Al, X)22Mg, E=67 MeV/nucleon; 9Be(26Si, X)22Mg, E=72 MeV/nucleon; analyzed experimental Eγ, Iγ, from 2008GA10 Phys.Rev. C 77, 044306; deduced parallel momentum distributions for 22Mg reaction product, ratio of the population of levels in 22Mg produced from 26Si to the population of levels in 22Mg produced from 25Al as function of the spin. Observed unexpected strong correlation between the relative population of the states in 21Mg and the spin of the populated level in reactions caused be 25Al and 26Si. Comparison to shell-model calculations using the USDB Hamiltonian. CAESium-iodide scintillator ARray (CAESAR) consisting of 192 CsI(Na) scintillators and S800 magnetic spectrograph at Coupled Cyclotron Facility (NSCL).
