Quadrupole deformation of 16C studied by proton and deuteron inelastic scattering
NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H(16C, p), (16C, p'), 2H(16C, d), (16C, d'), (16C, nd)15C, (16C, 2nd)14C, , E=24.0 MeV/nucleon, [secondary 16C beam from 9Be(18O, X), E=59.6 MeV/nucleon using RIBLL facility at IMP-Lanzhou]; measured reaction products, time-of-flight and energy losses of charged particles, (particle)(light particles)-coin, (16C)(light particle recoils)(θ), differential σ(θ) using E-ΔE telescopes; deduced kinematics for the recoil protons and deuterons from (CH2)n and (CD2)n targets, Q-value spectra, neutron and proton deformation lengths for the first 2+ state in 16C, B(E2), ratio of neutron and proton transition matrix element Mn/Mp. Comparison with previous experimental data, and with predictions from two calculations: shell model using MK, WBT, WBT* and YSOX interactions in p-sd model space, and the ab initio in-medium similarity renormalization group (IM-SRG).
