Investigation of a large change in deformation for the γ-soft nucleus 136Sm

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 107Ag(32S, 2np)136Sm, E=145 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, two and higher-fold γγ-coin, half-lives of levels in the ground band by DSAM using the INGA array at TIFR-Mumbai accelerator facility. 136Sm; deduced levels, J, π, yrast and γ bands, transitional quadrupole moments, configurations; calculated total Routhian surfaces, proton and neutron quasiparticle energies in the framework of the cranked shell model and the triaxial projected shell-model (TPSM).
