Search for the heaviest atomic nuclei among the products from reactions of mixed-Cf with a ⁴⁸Ca beam

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ^{249,250,251,252}Cf(⁴⁸Ca, 2n), (⁴⁸Ca, 3n), (⁴⁸Ca, 4n), (⁴⁸Ca, 5n), E^*=33-50 MeV; calculated evaporation residual cross sections using from five models for analyzing reactions. ^249,250,251Cf(⁴⁸Ca, xn)²⁹⁴Og, E=252, 258 MeV; Yb(⁴⁸Ca, xn)²¹⁶Th/²¹⁷Th/²¹⁸Th/²¹⁹Th/²²⁰Th, E=252, 258 MeV; ²⁰⁶Pb(⁴⁸Ca, 2n)²⁵²No, E=252, 258 MeV; measured Eα, Iα and (implants)α correlations, using Dubna Gas Filled Recoil Separator (DGFRS) for recoil separation and double-sided silicon strip detectors for α detection at JINR. Reviewed earlier experiments from 2002 to 2012 for the detection of ²⁹⁴Og nuclide. ^295,296Og; predicted production σ, half-life and Eα for the decay of ²⁹⁶Og; discussed future prospects for production of these two nuclides.

RADIOACTIVITY ²⁹⁴Og, ²⁹⁰Lv, ^218,219Th, ^214,215Ra(α); ²⁸⁶Fl(SF); measured Eα, Q(α) and T_1/2. ^294,296Og(α); comparison of experimental values for Q(α) and T_1/2 for ²⁹⁴Og with theoretical predictions for ²⁹⁴Og and ²⁹⁶Og.
