Observation of high-spin bands with large moments of inertia in ¹²⁴Xe

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁸⁰Se(⁴⁸Ca, 4n)¹²⁴Xe, E=207 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin using GAMMASPHERE array at ATLAS-ANL facility. ¹²⁴Xe; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, bands, moment of inertia plots, configurations; calculated total-energy surface contours Comparison with cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations. Systematics of alignment plots in ¹²⁰Te, ¹²⁵I, ^124,125,126Xe, ¹²⁴Ba, ¹³²Ce.
