In-beam γ-ray spectroscopy of 38-42S

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 12C(46Ar, X)40S/41S/42S/43S, E=67.0 MeV/nucleon; 12C(48Ca, X)38S/39S/40S, E=66.7 MeV/nucleon, [secondary 46Ar beam from 9Be(48Ca, X) primary reaction]; measured particle identification spectra, yields using A1900 fragment separator and S800 spectrograph, Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, (particle)γ-coin using GRETINA array at NSCL-MSU facility. 38,39,40,41,42,43S; deduced levels, J, π, estimated half-life of 6+ state in 38S; calculated shell model (SDPF-MU) neutron p3/2 occupancies for the 0+ and 2+ states in 38,40,42,44S. Comparison with large-scale shell-model calculations with the SDPF-MU effective interaction for the sd-pf shell using NUSHELLX code.
