Mixed-symmetry octupole and hexadecapole excitations in the N=52 isotones

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁹⁶Ru(p, p'), E=7.0, 8.4 MeV; measured Ep, Ip, Eγ, Iγ, pγ-coin, γγ(θ), level half-life by centroid-shift method using YRAST Ball spectrometer and Si detectors at Yale ESTU Tandem accelerator facility, and HORUS γ-detector array and particle-detector array SONIC at Cologne FN Tandem accelerator facility. ⁹⁶Ru; deduced levels, J, π, branching ratios, multipole mixing ratios, B(M1), B(E2), mixed-symmetry states (MSS) of octupole and hexadecapole character. Evidence for one-phonon mixed-symmetry character of the second 3(-) and 4+ states. Comparison with sdg-IBM-2 model calculations.
