Quadrupole collectivity in neutron-deficient Sn nuclei: 104Sn and the role of proton excitations

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 197Au(104Sn, 104Sn'), (102Cd, 102Cd'), [102Cd, 104Sn secondary beams from 9Be(124Xe, X), E=140 MeV/nucleon primary reaction], E=67 MeV/nucleon for 104Sn and 64 MeV/nucleon for 102Cd; measured scattered particle spectra, Eγ, Iγ, (particle)γ-coin using A1900 fragment separator, Si p-i-n detector and TOF for particles and CAESAR array of scintillation detectors for γ rays at NSCL-MSU facility. 104Sn; deduced level, B(E2) for first 2+ state relative to that for 102Cd. Comparison with previous experimental results, and with large-scale shell model calculations. Enhanced quadrupole collectivity. Systematics of B(E2) values for A=104 to 130 even-A Sn nuclei.
