Core excitations beyond maximally aligned configurations in ¹²³I

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁸⁰Se(⁴⁸Ca, 4np)¹²³I, E=207 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, angular asymmetry ratios using Gammasphere array. ¹²³I; deduced high-spin levels, J, π, multipolarity, bands, configurations, alignments; calculated potential energy surfaces. Comparison with Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations.
