Resonance parameters of the first 1/2⁺ state in ⁹Be and astrophysical implications

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ⁹Be(e, e'), E=73 MeV; measured electron spectra, σ, σ(θ); deduced parameters of the first 1/2+ resonance, widths, B(E1). R-matrix analysis. ⁹Be(γ, n), E=1.6-2.0 MeV; deduced averaged σ. Deduced reaction rates for ⁴He(nα, γ)⁹Be at temperatures T₉=0.001 to 0.03. Comparison with shell-model calculations. Discussed implications for possible production of ^12C in neutron-rich astrophysical scenarios.
