Superdeformation in the Doubly Magic Nucleus ₂₀⁴⁰Ca₂₀

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ²⁸Si(²⁰Ne, 2α), E=84 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-, (charged particle)γ-coin, residual Doppler shifts. ⁴⁰Ca deduced high-spin levels, J, π, configurations, quadrupole moments, superdeformed band. Gammasphere, Microball arrays, cranked mean-field calculations.
