Identification of Collective Oblate Bands in ¹³⁸Ce

NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹²⁴Sn(¹⁸O, 4n), E=78 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin. ¹³⁸Ce deduced high-spin levels, J, π, configurations, oblate deformation. Moments of inertia in neighboring nuclides discussed.
